Turkey, Eggs, And Yogurt Makes 4 Servings
I love cooking with ground turkey breast because it is so easy to find and cook. It’s a great foundation for a recipe, and almost every dog I know loves turkey. In addition to turkey, I always have a dozen or so hard-boiled eggs on hand in the refrigerator. Eggs provide all of a dog’s essential amino acids and, when served with the shell on, they are also a great source of calcium.
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 pounds ground turkey breast
1/4 cup chopped carrot”
4 hard-boiled eggs, shell on
1/4 cup plain yogurt containing live active cultures
1/4 cup wheat germ
1 In a large sauté pan, heat the oil over medium-low heat. Add the turkey and cook until browned. Drain any excess fat and set the turkey aside to cool.
2 Puree the carrots in a food processor. You should have about 1/4 cup of carrot puree.
TO MAKE ONE SERVING
1 1/3 cups cooked turkey breast
1 hard-boiled egg, shell on, cut in half or chopped into small pieces
1 tablespoon yogurt
1 tablespoon pureed carrots
1 tablespoon wheat germ
In your dog’s bowl, combine the turkey, egg, yogurt, carrot puree, and wheat germ. Refrigerate any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
